I'm working on developing public and private pages for groups.
Some, but not all, groups need a public page and also a section of the website that is only accessible to group members. For example, the Appamada Board may want to have some documents that are confidential for Board use, and they can keep a separate calendar or confidential group conversation. Generally these private sections are not intended to be "secret," but basically to contain information that is only useful for group members. For example, the flowers group keeps track of whose turn it is to do the flower arrangements at Appamada. So I have created two page types, one for public pages for groups and one for private pages. There are instructions on the group-private page template for how to set up permissions so that only group members have access to that part of the site. It means also setting up a Google calendar and email list for the group. Those can be embedded in the private page. We will see if this turns out to be broadly necessary, but for the time being I think these are the groups that most need that confidential space: Appamada Board, Council 1 and 2, and the Clearness Committee.
