We’d like to offer some more focused practice opportunities on Wednesday evenings. We will incorporate a little bit of instruction and usually a short guided meditation, followed by waking meditation and a regular zazen period. As usual, we will follow the Wednesday evening program with informal tea in the study, a good chance to ask questions or discuss the program. Here is the schedule, which will vary by week:

FIRST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH: LOVINGKINDNESS (METTA AND LOJONG PRACTICES)

instruction: 15 min.
guided meditation: 15 min.
Walking meditation: walking with lovingkindness
silent meditation: 30 min
service

SECOND WEDNESDAY: MIND TRAINING FOR FOCUS AND STABILITY OF MIND

Concentration practice instruction: 15 min.
Guided concentration practice: 15 min.
Walking meditation: mindful concentration in motion
Concentration meditation: 30 min.
Service

THIRD WEDNESDAY: GAIA MEDITATION FOR THE WELL-BEING OF THE EARTH AND ITS INHABITANTS (MACY)

Instruction or introduction: 15 min.
Guided meditation: 15 min.
Walking meditation: walking on the earth
Silent meditation: 30 min.
Service: Well-being service

FOURTH WEDNESDAY: SMALL GROUP KOAN PRACTICE

Introduction of the koan: 15 min.
Meditation: 15 min.
Walking meditation with the koan
Small group koan work

FIFTH WEDNESDAY (WHEN NEEDED): ZEN AND THE BODY

instruction: 15 min.
guided meditation: 15 min.
Walking meditation: mindful of the body
silent meditation: 30 min
service
