I've been working on the development of the member directory, which means adding the attributes we want included and then turning on the public profile and public directory settings. However, at this point there is no way to style these public profiles and the directory, so we will have to work with a developer to style them. The question is whether to invest in that now, or wait until the new version of Concrete 5 is released, probably some time this fall. They just released the second beta, but they are strongly urging folks not to use it for production sites, because it will likely break some things (which is what betas are for) and my be difficult to upgrade to the release version. I'm glad I was able to learn how to turn on the public profile and directory features, as well as the registration, which will enable folks to add themselves. All we will have to do is approve them.
Today I installed the add-on Formify, which solves a major problem for us. Now we can have a directory of members where members can add themselves. Formify is a powerful forms creator and we will have other uses for it as well. I think it should serve us well, particularly as I learn how to create the templates we want for displaying data. For now, I have created a member profile page and directory view that are very primitive but functional.
I'd like to begin loading classes and intensives, starting with this year and then going back to 2015. I don't know how far I will get before I go to Chicago. I should check on when v. 8 of Concrete 5 will show up.
This afternoon I uploaded the rest of the 2015 Dharma talks, all of the Way-Seeking Mind talks, and about half of the 2015 inquiry talks. If Version 8 breaks this site, I will be really hosed. But perhaps everything will transition smoothly. One can hope.
I've uploaded all of the current year's dharma talks, inquiry, and Depth in Practice recordings. This is amazingly time consuming, especially when you need to reduce file sizes on the audio. The upload speed is fine, but Concrete 5 has to take some time identifying the file and then you need to put it into a set and tag it. Finally, you need to add it to the file list on the page. I don't mind the routine of it, but it is very slow work. I've also tweaked the home page slider, which may or may not make it into the final design. I'll see what Ben thinks. This afternoon: more archives. I also want to work on the classes page template.
