Council Responsibilities 2026
These are the roles for the councils for 2026. These roles rotate approximately every year.
Council 1 (continuing) — Teacher Tasks
Entrusted teachers work with senior teachers to plan programs including classes and intensives.Council 2 — Exterior Tasks
Oversee the maintenance of the exterior of the zendo property including organizing outdoor workdays, and tracking and requesting supplies needed.Council 3 — Event Coordination/Purchasing
Work with teachers to set up registration forms for programs including classes and intensives; send program/intensive details to Council 2 to be added to the calendar; and be responsible for purchasing supplies (for interior and exterior) as requested by Council 2 and 4.Council 4 — Facilities (Interior)
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the interior of the zendo building and for tracking, requesting, and coordinating supplies from Council 3 as needed for interior operations.Council 5—Calendar, Communications, and Online Operations
Maintain and update the Appamada calendar with all events, including classes and intensives. Ensure Zoom links and passwords are accurate and included as needed. Compile and distribute the weekly email listing upcoming events. Add new participants to the Appamada email list as appropriate.
Provide online monitoring and support, including coordination, training, and hands-on implementation as needed. Oversee recordings, including editing, coordination, training, and production support.
Be reminded that these jobs may be assigned to others, both in other councils and in the sangha at large. The responsibility that it gets done remains with the particular council above.
