Decision Making

Appamada’s Board, Senior Teachers, Entrusted Teachers and councils are responsible for specific tasks. These tasks are listed below. Although the lists are not complete, they provide a general idea of each council’s purview.

Board: Discussing and making financial and legal decisions
Senior Teachers: Teaching, consulting, holding practice discussion groups.
Entrusted Teachers: Working with senior teachers to plan programming including classes and intensives.

Council 1's Decision-Making Procedure Regarding Programming
In an effort to streamline decision-making regarding programming, the Entrusted Teachers have decided to implement the following procedure:
When a council member has a suggestion for creating a new event or altering a current event, they shall speak to or send an email to all Entrusted Teachers or the one who sits in on their weekly council meeting. That teacher will bring the suggestion back to the Entrusted Teacher’s Meeting or, if necessary, the Senior Teachers Meeting for deliberation. Under normal circumstances, a decision will be made within two weeks and will be disseminated to the other councils by Entrusted Teachers, either through email or in each council’s meeting. If a decision needs to be made more rapidly than two weeks, the council member making the suggestion will inform the Entrusted Teacher and provide the reason for the urgency. The teachers will make every effort to follow the requested time frame if the request is an urgent matter.
