GUIDELINES FOR ONLINE PARTICIPATION

A warm welcome to all those joining us online in our cloud zendo. To participate in Appamada events online, please use the link in the event description on the Main Calendar. We consider you are fully included and participating just as if you have stepped through the door and are with us in person at Appamada.

With that in mind, we request that online participants follow our forms for providing a harmonious environment for everyone. It is very challenging for most of us to maintain stillness and silence while practicing zazen—even more so when in our homes or offices, but it is essential for our practice together.

Please dress appropriately, avoiding tank tops, loud patterns, or clothing with writing on it—anything that may be distracting for others. Mute your microphone unless participating in a discussion. Please avoid eating or drinking, checking email, or attending to anything else during this time. In the event of an unavoidable interruption, please turn off your video to attend to it. In meditation, it is generally helpful to sit facing sideways to the camera, so as not to be distracted by the screen. The fundamental principle is to give your practice your full attention and be mindful not to disturb others. In this way we take care of each other well.
